Bajaj launches new Discover 100T commuter bike

Bajaj Auto, the world’s third largest two wheeler manufacturer has launched a new version of its popular Discover, called the Discover 100T. According to Bajaj, the Discover 100T (T stands for Tourer) is the world’s most advanced 100cc bike. It is powered by a 102cc four valve DTS-i engine which has an impressive power output of 10.2 PS and torque of 9.2 Nm making it about 30% more powerful than any of the bikes in the segment. The bike weighs 121 kg and has a claimed top speed of 100 kph and fuel economy of 87 kpl. Bajaj plans to trump the fellow competitors by offering 5-speed gearbox, auto choke and nitrox rear shock absorbers with gas canisters. The Bajaj Discover 100T emerges as the most technically advanced commuter bike. The motorcycle packs in self start function and DC (Direct Current) headlamp for flicker free lighting at low speeds. The braking power comes from 13o mm drum up front and 110mm drum at the rear. On the looks front, the bike adopts the same design as its 125cc brother, becoming one of the best looking motorcycles of its segment. All in all, the Discover 100T offers what one gets in a 125cc segment, for the price of 100cc segment. The commuter segment is heating up again with the arrival of new bikes. Mahindra has just previewed two new 110cc commuter bikes, the Centuro and Pantero which are expected to be in the market in the course of this year. The Discover brand has been well received by Indian buyers and the new bike seems to bring more excitement to the segment. The bike is priced at Rs. 50,500 ex-showroom New Delhi and is available in four colors – Flame Red, Brilliant Blue, Black Red and Black Blue.
