Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India ltd has pulled off a surprise move by upgrading its range of scooters for the model year 2013. The Japanese two wheeler giant is leading the scooter market in India by a huge margin with their Activa, Aviator and Dio scooters which dominate their respective segments. The competition is slowly heating up and Honda has prepared themselves with their upgrades. The noticeable feature of the upgrade is the implementation of what the manufacturer calls as the Honda Eco Technology (HET) which enables the scooters to deliver a ‘magical’ mileage of 60 kpl. The best selling Honda Activa’s 109cc 8 bhp engine gets the HET which is set to improve the scooter’s appeal by manifold. In 2013 Activa will be available in five color options – Wild Purple, Grey, Pearl White, Black and Red. The Activa is priced at Rs. 47,188 (ex-showroom Delhi). The 2013 Honda Aviator also benefits from the HET technology since it shares the engine with the Activa. The premium scooter is equipped with 12″ wheel and a 190 mm disc bake up front. A new Metallic Royal Gold color option is added to the existing options of white, black and Red. The Aviator is available in two variants which retail at Rs. 48,212 and Rs. 53,531 respectively. The Honda Dio graduates to the 109cc HET engine that is again borrowed from the Activa. The stylish scooter gets an eye catching Pearl Yellow hue and is priced at Rs. 44,701. Apart from the upgrades, Honda has inaugurated a 10,000 sq m technical centre complete with wind tunnel near its facility in Manesar. The new technical centre will employ around 200 engineers and will be responsible for future products, both scooters and motorcycles. [Source: Motorbeam.com ]
