The Aprilia Caponord 1200 is the Italian motorcycle maker’s answer to the path breaking BMW R1200 GS and the Ducati Multistrada. The 1200cc avatar of the go anywhere grand tourer was launched at the EICMA 2012 in Milan, Italy. The styling of the bike epitomizes functional beauty and the good news is that, now you can buy one in India! reports that the Aprilia outlet in Pune has officially commenced the bookings of the Caponord 1200. Aprilia hasn’t expanded its operations in India, nevertheless a biking enthusiast knows the respect the Italian marque commands. The Caponord 1200’s design is widely influenced by wind tunnel testing and that enables it to look good while also being stable at high speeds. And the bike is tech laden too. The tourer has in its bosom, a 90 degree V-twin engine which is borrowed from the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, albeit the state of tune is more focused on everyday motoring. The motor’s 128 bhp output is harnessed by a 6-speed transmission via a hydraulically operated wet multiplate clutch. The bike comes with electronic goodies such as ABS, APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control), ADD (Aprilia Dynamic Damping system) , ATC (Aprilia Traction Control) and cruise control. The motorcycle comes in two variants – a regular Caponord 1200 and a Caponord 1200 Travel Pack. The price range is Rs. 15-16 lakhs. [Source: ]
