Alto’s only nemesis was its older sibling the 800. But Hyundai is ready to change that with the Hyundai Eon.With bookings open since October 1st, the Eon is ready to give the Alto a tough time. The company announced the launch of the car in Delhi and the base version will cost 2.69 lakhs ranging all the way to the top end, which will be priced at 3.71 lakhs. The exteriors exuberate a strong shoulder line and a fluidic design that is shares with the i10, i20 and the Verna. The car is powered by a 814 cc 3 cylinder engine which will put out 54 bhp and a peak torque of 76.5 Nm Torque. The efficiency figures from Arai suggest 21.1 kmpl, which is marginally better than Alto’s 20.2. On the interiors, the Eon features semi digital display and a gear shift indicator. For a car in its class the Eon is generous on cabin and boot space. To augment its overall modern feel, the Eon will have keyless entry, an energy saving alternator management system. Surprisingly, the tachometer is missing. On the safety front, the car is fitted with driver airbag. The car is sure to cause a stir in its segment and to ensure waiting periods are kept at a minimum, the company has already dispatched over 7000 units across the country. Source: – Motoroids
