Maruti Launches New Suzuki Swift DZire 2012 in India

Maruti announces the second-generation Swift Dzire at a starting price of Rs 4.79lakh in petrol and diesel variants. This will be the new sub-four-meter Dzire which will be offered as four-speed automatic petrol variant. The base (Lxi) model will be priced at Rs 4.79lakh while the top end Zxi model will be priced at Rs 6.19 lakh. In the diesel variants, the base variant is for Rs 5.80 lakh and the top-end for Rs 7.09 lakh. The new Dzire measures 3995 mm and it is 165mm shorter than the existing saloon. This gives it a shorter boot and notchback- like look. Though small, the boot can hold the weekend`s luggage. The engines will be powered by the 86bhp, 1.2 L petrol and 1.3 L diesel motors. The K series will benefit from the variable valve Timing. The new Dzire also looks different in that the front gets a slatted grille and the bumper features a wider air dam and larger enclosures for the fog lights. The cabin design looks much like the Swift but the beige plastics and lower portion of the dashboard and door pads with the light seat fabrics give the ambience a better look. For buyers looking at performance, the Maruti claims that the petrol variant can hit 0-100 kph in 12.3 sec, while the diesel variant will take 14.8 sec for top speed of 160kph. BMW X4 all set to challenge the Range Rover Evoque

BMW has always been known for create segments that no one would have ever dreamed off. Can you imagine the look on the designer’s face when BMW CEO walked in to the boardroom and said “Right chaps, we will make an SUV which will look like a Coupe”. Even the world automotive press questioned the need of a Coupe-crossover. But BMW was right and that showed in the sales figures of the X6. The Bavarian giant is again tripping on creativity and plans to introduce a smaller X6. BMW plans to bring the X4 in the market which will challenge the Range Rover Evoque, Porche Cajun et al. AutoExpress gives us a glimpse of what this future model would look like: The design of the X4 is clearly a cross between the X3 and the new 1 Series. It has a much sharper coupe-like roofline than the big brother X6. It is expected to be powered by the same engine options as the X3 mated to six-speed manual or eight-speed auto gearboxes. New 2012 BMW F30 3-Series To Vroom into India

BMW is one of the much awaited models amongst the luxury car brands. It is hugely popular in India as luxury cars have a significant fan base and market here. The all new BMW F30 3- series is slated for launch in India in the second half of year 2012. The new 2012 BMW F30 3-Series model will have new engine options including a starting range 3 – cylinder diesel engine, 2.0L four cylinder turbo diesel engine (borrowed from the existing model of the car), and a turbocharged variant of the petrol engine. The powerful engine system will come with an 8 speed automatic transmission, sourced from Germany’s system maker ZF. The other attractions of the car include longer wheelbase for improved comfort, better power output and improved fuel economy. That is not all; a slew of new age technological features will be offered with the car in exteriors and interiors. The most interesting part is that the 2012 F30 BMW 3 Series sedan has already begun arriving into India. This is evident from the spyshots of the car arriving at a Mumbai port. BMW India will launch the F30 3 series sedan before the middle of this year.

DC Design’s 1 crore rupee Tata Nano has a 1,600cc superbike engine!

If you recall two years ago DC Design set off on designing a custom Tata Nano expected to retail for over one crore rupees. You won’t hear that everyday – no wonder it made headline news around the world. Newspapers in India ran the story days before the Auto Expo. Some publication went as far as reporting on an Auto Expo unveiling. It was not to be and all we got was the odd-ball body kits through Carnation outlets. A recent report on The Hindu BusinessLine provides more insight on this elusive creation. DC silently finished the project last year adding goodies such as a drive-by-wire system akin to cars many times its actual price, LCD touchscreen and shipped the one-off Nano to a buyer in England who runs a company that supplies components to the Nano (did he mean Caparo?). DC refuses to disclose the name of the buyer or the final price. He says it was bought for over a crore. The custom is not road legal and is used a display piece at the company’s ballroom. It was no regular Nano as the tiny 624cc 2cyl engine was shown the door for a liquid-cooled 1,600cc Suzuki Hayabusa superbike engine. New Mahindra XUV 500 Launched in India – A Style of Its Own

Mahindra and Mahindra , India’s leading auto manufacturer has launched a new wave soft-roader, the Mahindra XUV 500. The Mahindra XUV 500 SUV epitomizes style and substance and takes the Mahindra Brand to new heights. The brand new SUV is available in three variants namely W6 2wheel drive, W8 2 wheel drive and W8 AWD available in BSIV versions. The new and refined mHawk 140, Direct injection diesel engine is powerful and generates 138 bhp of power and 330 NM of torque. The 6-speed transmission delivers the ultimate blend of performance and fuel economy. Mahindra XUV 500 offers unmatched performance, style, technology, safety and features.
