Mitsubishi to kill Evo series

by Paul Joseph March 3, 2011 Featured

Mitsubishi Evo series is  to face an abrupt end. Mitsubishi Motors  will discontinue Evo series products from 2013. That means Evo-X could be the last product from  Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution series.  Mr. Gayu Eusegi, Mitsubishi’s global product director disclosed this development to Autocar UK in an interview. But till 2013 company will continue selling Lancer Evo-X in markets were it is already present. “There is still a demand [for the car],” he said, “but we must stop,”  said Gayu Eusegi, Mitsubishi’s global product director. Mitsubishi  had recently announced their plans to focus on eco friendly products which includes full electric and hybrid cars. In India,  after a long wait Mitsubishi Evo-X was launched at Rs.50 lakhs . Official sales figures of Mitsubishi Evolution-X  are still unknown. But our auto enthusiasts will have to bid good bye to Evo-X by 2013 after a very short association of three years. But Mr.Eusegi’s statement gives a ray of hope for rally car enthusiasts, “Maybe the world can change, and maybe someday we can do a motor race by electric vehicles.”  “Maybe then we can enter the market again.” Read a  reader’s reaction  at Autocar’s website, “Sadly everything must come to an end and to be honest the death of the Evo does not really bother me.  They had a great run from Evo III through to Evo X and the automotive world has been a better place because of it!  Thanks Mitsuibishi!” What do you think..? Mitsubishi Evo series to Mitsubishi Eco series. Is it a right step..? Related posts: Mitsubishi Evo X India Launch By January 2010 Mitsubishi Evo X
