In the past we have done a number  of posts about Maruti Ertiga and we are sure that our readers are updated about it’s major development mile stones. The seven seater MPV is a stretched  version of Maruti Suzuki Ritz and available in both diesel and petrol options. The petrol version of Ertiga will get an all new K14B petrol engine, which will makes it’s global  debut. This engine develops 94 hp  peak power at 6000 RPM and 13.25 kg-m of peak torque at 4000 RPM. It comes with an ARAI certified mileage if 16.02 kmpl. Fiat’s 1.3-liter diesel engine will power  Maruti Ertiga diesel variant. This fuel efficient engine  produces 90 hp peak power. “We would like to start the sale of this car as quick as possible. But possibly, the commercial roll-out would begin by end of March or beginning of April this year,” said Shinzo Nakanishi , Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India. Company officials have not disclosed the pricing of  Maruti Ertiga but informed that ” it will be attractively priced.” Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will lock horns with other people movers like, Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo, Chevrolet Tavera and Nissan Evalia. The front fascia of the car looks exactly similar to Maruti Suzuki Ritz. The bumper and headlights have been redesigned to give a fresh look. The concept form of  Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki RIII was debuted during last edition of New Delhi Auto Expo. Two years later, in 2012 Edition Maruti is ready with a production version of the vehicle. The 4265 mm long Maruti Ertiga will not benefit from small car duty benefits. So the pricing of Maruti Ertiga will be a tough task for the company. Yesterday we saw another  new  concept Maruti XA Alpha  from local arm of Suzuki, Japan. Maruti Suzuki with their vast experience in Indian market backed with largest sales and dealership network is in the search of new avenues. Spotted:- Suzuki Alto JDM model in India

by Paul Joseph November 30, 2011 Featured

Maruti Suzuki, the small car king of  Indian car market is now struggling to  maintain their supremacy. The reasons for their slide in market share are  many. Maruti Suzuki is a dominant player in our most crowded market segment ie small cars. Maruti Suzuki and their sister concerns witnessed a series of labour troubles in the recent past and it accelerated Maruti’s free fall. Sensing the trouble, Maruti and it’s parent company is ready with a back up plan. Maruti is planning to bring a series of ‘Kei’ (small) cars to Indian market. Company officials have disclosed their plans to bring two small cars – MR Wagon and Palette- to New Delhi Auto Expo floors which scheduled to happen in  January 2012. But an eagle eyed Team-BHP ian managed to spot another Kei series car in Indian road, Suzuki Alto JDM (Japan Domestic Market) version. Suzuki JDM Alto is built on Kei car platform and exclusively sold in Japanese market. The same car shares it’s platform with many other  Suzuki cars like  Suzuki Alto/A-Star , Maruti 800 and Maruti Suzuki Alto . The car which measures 3,395 mm (length), 1,475 mm (width) and  1,535 mm (height) comes   with 2,400 mm wheel base. Alto JDM version  is one of the most successful small car from Suzuki Motor Co.  in  their home market. The bonnet houses a  658 cc petrol engine which is paired to a five speed manual gearbox or a four speed CVT there. Recently  Alto JDM version’s  658cc engine recorded a mindboggling fuel efficiency of 32 km/ltr. The front fascia looks similar to it’s kin A-Star/Alto but it is  taller than A- Star. The rear comes with a plain  design elements and nothing much to show off. Overall Suzuki JDM Alto looks like a perfect candidate for Indian market where car buyers are inclined towards fuel efficient cars. We expect to see Suzuki JDM Alto during 2012 New Delhi Expo and Maruti Suzuki may further decide  course of  action  after gauging response from the event.
