Shoeb R Kalania gets it dead right as the new Indica Vista gets spied

by Paul Joseph July 4, 2011 Featured

As Tata Aria and Tata Safari Merlin become the ‘talk of the town’ vehicles from the Tata Camp, we forget the humble Indica Vista which is the bread earner for the company. Unfortunately, the Vista has not managed to capture the fancy of the Indian consumer as Tata Motors would have hoped. As a result, we learnt from our sources and reading AutoX magazine that Tata Motors has started work on an Indica Vista facelift model. SRK envisioned the Indica Vista facelift on the first week of June with a Tata Manza ish front end with double barrel headlamps and a chrome grill. Little did we know that Tata Motors was also thinking on the same lines. Our good friends at OnCars have spotted a test mule of the Indica Vista facelift and thus have proved that IAB was right about it. The test mule, as SRK imagined, has a Manza front end bolted to the body of Indica Vista. The rear profile of the car remains more or less the same. It also features the same alloy wheels as the Manza. We expect the facelifted Vista to arrive during Diwali. This mild makeover is an effort to fend of the competition that will come from the big three hatchbacks (Toyota Liva, New Swift and Honda Brio). All three competitors will lock horns in the festive season of Diwali. In such a scenario, will the mildly face lifted Indica Vista have a fighting chance? [Source - OnCars.in via AutoX.in ]

Tata Motors plans Indica Vista facelift

by Paul Joseph May 31, 2011 Featured

BSMotoring has carried an interesting story talking about new models from Tata Motors during this financial year. An important model reported is the Indica Vista facelift as the company’ not been among the volumes in a segment that’s loaned a new face to Ford, Volkswagen and Nissan operating with one hatchback. Tata has an incredibly large number of variants on the Indica platform and the Vista has variants for economy as well as performance-seeking customers. Be it Indica or Indigo, the formula for Tata Motors has been to offer something for everyone. The Vista (the Indica prefix has diminished over the years) introduced in August 2008 has seen two fast-selling anniversary edition models, one not-very-fast-selling 90hp variant and four engines in all (SAFIRE90, SAFIRE65, Quadrajet and TDi for BS3 cities). In 2012, Tata could give it a much-needed cosmetic overhaul as a number of cars like Etios Liva, Brio, Renault hatchback are going to join the ranks. click through to read more

How a Tata Indigo Manza/Indica Vista AT would look

by Paul Joseph April 21, 2011 Featured

Here’s an interior snap of the Tata Vista EV . Since this is an EV, it is understandably missing a conventional gearbox. The image provides us an idea of how the gear selector will look like. There’s no concrete proof of Tata Motors working on a AT for the Vista or Manza. The Manza has done well for Tata in wiping away the image of the Indigo being a cab operator’ everyday tool. Well-finished interiors, generous amount of rear seat space and good levels of powertrain refinement has won it accolades. Tata Motors should next explore AT avenue for its Nano, Indica and Indigo models. Tata also needs to work on a bigger sedan, perhaps stretching the Manza’ platform and giving it a more powerful diesel engine. The AT will then come in handy as it will brush shoulders with the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.

Spied: LHD Tata Aria for Europe?

by Paul Joseph April 1, 2011 Featured

Day by day, Tata Motors is getting increasingly aggressive to conquer various international markets. First we saw the Indica Vista (LHD version) then the Indica Vista EV for UK market. Now Mr Ramugade, a member of Motoroids, has spotted a LHD version of the Tata Aria near Pune. This does not surprise us because on the day when Aria was launched, Tata Motors made it quite clear that Aria will be sold in the international markets eventually. After the JLR takeover, there were rumors that the Aria was sent to Jaguar for final touches. Clearly, Tata Motors had Europe as ‘prospective sales market’ when developing the product. According to Ramugade, there were no special changes to the LHD Aria and it had a 4X4 badges as well. So all you Europeans, are you ready for the Tata Aria? Source – Motoroids.com

After brochure, real images of Tata Indica eV2 appear on web

by Paul Joseph March 9, 2011 Featured

Tata Indica e V2 brochure was appeared on internet previously. Now Sidindica ( who brought the brochure of new Indica) a member of Team-BHP published an exhaustive image gallery of Tata Indica e V2. As expected with the launch of Indica eV2, Tata Motors may want to score some quick some sales in entry  level hatchback segment. Once it is launched, Indica eV2 could be the most fuel efficient car on Indian roads. With this fuel efficient Indica Tata may want to impress our taxi cab operators who always demand more mile per liter of fuel they fill. Tata Motors may announce the formal launch date of Indica eV2 very soon. The Indica eV2 looks similar to first generation Tata Indica. The changes are very minimal and we can easily conclude that  Tata Motors has done extensive cost cutting measures to make it attractive from pricing point of view. The plastics in the interiors are very basic and may not be of your taste. But the interiors looks good compared to previous generation of Indica V2. According to Sid, who drove the car for 10kms around bumper to bumper city traffic, Indica eV2 is good city car with sufficient torque and fun to drive aspects. Indica eV2 will be powered by Tata’s 1.4ltr DiCOR engine that powers Indigo eCS . There will be four colors (white, silver, apple green and orange) on offer.  The prices may begin at Rs. 4.0lakh. We will update you about arrival of Tata Indica eV2 in due course of time. Till then enjoy the images. Denmark, Norway and UK first to receive Vista EV?

by Paul Joseph March 8, 2011 Featured

International media is abuzz talking on the possible markets for the proposed Indica Vista EV . The company is ready with the product and is presently carrying out real world tests in Europe to see how the car copes with those conditions. German, French and Japanese companies have started arriving on the EV scene and Tata’s Vista EV will be among the first lot of new generation EVs in Britain to qualify for a juicy 5,000 pound subsidy. Media reports suggest Tata Motors plans to introduce the Vista EV in Europe in the upcoming months. Denmark, Norway and the UK are the first three countries on the plan. On a single charge, the Vista EV travels 177 km while hitting a top speed of 114kmph. Plugged into a household socket, the batteries take 8 hours to recharge. Tata Motors hasn’t commented, but more information is likely to follow in the coming weeks. We’d also love to see Tata Motors put a few Vista EVs on Indian roads. Tata could provide a dozen Vista customers with the EV as part of a experiment and gather feedback of owners to improve the cars or suit the Indian conditions or needs better. Perhaps the transition from selling diesel/petrol cars to EVs will be easier if Tata takes steps instead of banking on luck or remaining idle till the last minute.
